We are particularly conscious of the impact this is having on some of our students. With hostilities in Ukraine having resumed, we at the students’ union are doing our best to offer as much support as possible.

We are running two drop-in sessions next week on Tuesday 1 March from 3pm-5pm and Friday 4 March from 11am-1pm. Students can come in and discuss these issues with us or ask for any support or help you might need.

Statement from Sonja Dembo the students’ union International Officer

“I am deeply sorrowed by the current situation unfolding in Ukraine and the affect it has on the surrounding regions. My heart is with the people who are fleeing, who are hiding, and who are scared. This is a terrifying situation to be in and my thoughts are with those affected.

I understand that there are plenty of students in Lancaster whose family are directly or indirectly affected by this war in many different ways, myself included. As so, I will be hosting a Tea/Chat event this Sunday, at 12:00 o’clock in the Chaplaincy. We are there to talk and share our thoughts and worries, and everyone is welcome to come to find people who are also affected by this.

In the meantime, you can contact me at su.internationalofficer@lancaster.ac.uk. My inbox is always open for those who want to talk or have any questions.

Stay safe. From one worried student to another”.

We want to assure everyone that they are not alone, and we are here to help.

All students are welcome to reach out to our Advice Team at: advice@lancastersu.co.uk
