Improv

Improv is one of our main strengths in the society. It is difficult to find another performing society at Lancaster that puts so much effort into improvised scenes. If you come to our meetings, we will teach you how to do comedy on the fly and in front of an audience. We know an infinite number of games and we will teach you how to do long and short-form improv. What's that? You don't know the difference between short-form and long-form? Neither did any of us before we joined. So come to one of our meetings and find out.

The level of your improv is never a problem. We love to see enthusiasm among new members, and we will always try to help you. As long as you give it a go we guarantee you will learn how to improvise and in time you will become a true improviser. Once that happens you will be able to perform at Joke at the Oak, our regular show in County Bar. Click here to know more.

Meetings

Every Friday from 6pm to 8pm.

This is what we call a General Meeting. The general meeting is what we use to get together and enjoy some improv games. You can participate in the games if you want to or just enjoy them from your seat. Also, because it's on Friday, we like to go together to a bar afterwards and get a pint and some food!

We organize Stand Up workshops as much as we can so new members can practise improv. They are very fun and they are designed to help the less experienced members but also we try to build them around the specific needs of the members.

And if that's not enough, it's not unusual that we use some of the time of a Stand Up meeting to rehears improv when we have a show on the horizon. Feel free to come to those as well!
