Stand Up

What kind of Comedy Club would we be without stand up sets? Every two weeks we do a live performance at County Bar on Thursdays: Joke at the Oak (JATO). We have stand up meetings twice a week where people can come to try their sets, get feedback or just bring vague concepts. It doesn't matter how experienced you are or at what state your set is: we will listen to you and help you to write your sets, give you ideas, and help your delivery and performance. Some people sometimes even come without any ideas so we give them exercises to come up with ideas.

In the past, we have had people that were terrified of even thinking about holding a mic in front of an audience and now they are making us all laugh with their sets. So, if you were ever interested in doing stand up, this is your chance. We know performing might seem scary but don't worry, we are all nice and we will make sure you're ready before you perform. From our experience, anyone can do an amazing set with enough effort and determination.

Meetings

Odd weeks: Mondays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Even weeks: Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm.

We know it sounds a bit confusing but don't worry. Just remember this: There's always a meeting on Monday. If there's a show on that week, the second meeting is on Wednesday because JATO is on Thursday. If there is no JATO that week, then the meeting is on Thursday.

Meetings take place in a Bowland North Seminar Room. If you are excited to do stand up, send a join request to our Facebook Group Member page where we do daily posts stating where and when meetings are!
