Familiarise yourself with the area
Lancaster is a city like no other. You can choose whether you prefer to live in the city centre or within the area where the buzz of the city disappears. Bowerham, Primrose and the City Centre areas are the most popular choices among students, followed by Freehold, Fairfield and Scotforth. Whilst Bowerham and the City Centre areas offer a variety of pubs and shops on your doorstep, Primrose, Freehold, Fairfield and Scotforth are great if you fancy more of a relaxing and quiet atmosphere. Lancaster has great transport links all over the city and it takes around 15-25 minutes to reach the heart of Lancaster University campus from each of the mentioned locations.
Pick your housemates carefully
It is important to choose who are you going to live with during the next academic year while looking for a house. Whether you prefer smaller properties for 3-4 people or larger ones that can accommodate up to 8 tenants, we highly advice to live with someone who is clean, friendly and easy-going. A majority of students choose to live with their friends who they met during the previous academic years.
