North Wales Trip 12-14th June

Our final trip of the academic year is finally here! We'll be staying at the Chamois Mountaineering Hut in Caernarfon, North Wales from the 12th to the 14th of June. There are an array of different tickets so if there is any confusion please get in touch to make sure you buy the correct ticket for you.

As per as all LUMC trips, food will be provided over the weekend, with veggie evening meals on the Friday and Saturday nights, alongside basic breakfast and lunch materials to make sandwiches etc. As such, it may be worth bringing some of your favourite snacks of choice to eat when out on the hill (but you'd equally be fine without). If you have any dietary requirements please let us know about it in the google form

We aim to be an accesible, inclusive and welcoming society, so if there's anything we can do to help support you over the weekend please let us know! We'll host a pre-trip info meeting on Tuesday the 9th of June which will be a good oppourtunity to finalise Friday cars, meet people coming on the trip, ask any questions you might have, and start making some climbing plans. It also helps us reduce chaos on the trip, so please come along!

This hut has bunk beds so no roll mats are required, however you still need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. There will be a designated quiet room, if you would like to be in this please indicate it on the form!

You'll need to bring or borrow:

  • Waterproof Coat and Trousers (who knows what the weather may be!)
  • Hiking Boots or Approach shoes
  • Plenty of warm outdoorsy layers (not jeans)... It's summer now but it can still get pretty chilly at the crag in the evening!
  • Headtorch (+ batteries!) - Just in case!
  • Water Bottle (1L+) as much water as possible is the best bet!
  • Toiletries, towel etc.
  • Sleeping bag
  • Any climbing gear you own (ie. Shoes, Harness, Helmet etc.); see the info form.
  • Any running / swimming gear you may have - if the weather is bad we may do other activities!
  • Rucksack to carry your kit to the crag.
  • Tupperware for your lunch and leftover food
  • Teddy bear
  • Suncream, sunglasses, any sun protection

If you don't have access to any of these items, speak to us at the pre-trip meeting or message one of the exec and we'll sort you out. At this time of year, heading into the hills ill-equipped is a spectacularly bad idea and can end badly, so if you come onto the trip without having organised to borrow something you need, we may have to leave you in the hut for the day. Normal climbing kit can be borrowed via the google form.

If you have any accessibility requirements, we would really like to hear about them and do whatever we can for you. We aim for our trips to be fully accessible.

Once you have bought your ticket you MUST fill out the Info form ASAP!

“The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.” By proceeding to buy a ticket, you agree that you have read and understand this statement.
