Ben Francis

I’m Ben a 4th year MSci Geography student.

I believe that involvement with sports and societies is a key aspect of student life at Lancaster. I would therefore love the chance to represent you as VP Activities to give back my time and energy into helping enhance the Lancaster University experience for students next academic year.

Why you should vote for me for VP Activities:

  • I am an enthusiastic and hardworking individual and believe I can offer a lot of energy and commitment to the role and as LUSU as a whole.
  • I have always had a strong involvement in several sports and have competed at BUCS and Roses in Running and Triathlon and in inter-college competitions in a variety of sports. I therefore have good knowledge and experience to represent the wide range of clubs and societies on campus.
  • I have gained valuable experience and skills through two years on the athletics club exec and as the Bowland JCR exec Vice President.
  • I have had engagement with several societies, for example during the Nine Colleges Challenge, and would like to have more engagement during this role.

If elected, my main priorities are:

  1. Participation – I would like to see an increase in participation and access to sports teams as well as to recreational sport, through schemes such as Just Play, and increased involvement in societies.
  2. Inter-college competition – The college system is one of Lancaster’s greatest strengths and therefore we should embrace this. To do this I would like to increase the quantity and variety of inter-college competitions, including sporting and non-sporting competition.
  3. Communications and transparency – I would like to develop a good relationship with all clubs and societies, regularly meeting and talking with members to listen to their issues, making sure they are heard within LUSU.
  4. Roses – I will ensure a well prepared and delivered Roses weekend which is enjoyable and memorable for everyone – topped off with a big victory over our rivals York!

Get in touch via Facebook or catch me around campus if you have any questions about my campaign.

See you all at hustings!
