Hi everyone, I’m Lewis and I’m your Vice-President (Campaigns & Communications) for the 2019/20 academic year!

I’m originally from Failsworth, Manchester, and have just graduated from my joint honours degree in English Literature and Theatre here at Lancaster. During my three years at university, I was a member of The County College JCR as a Socials and Events officer, before becoming Vice-President Socials and Events, which meant I was responsible for planning and executing large college events such as Extrav. Alongside my position in the JCR, I was a member of the swimming society and an Academic Rep for the English Literature department.

Looking ahead, I would like to run a Low Mood campaign that focuses on the difference between simply being in a low mood and having depression. Having a low mood is something that is likely to affect everyone some time during their time at university, so this campaign will provide tips and techniques that will reduce them from being in a low mood and hopefully decrease the stigma around mental health. Additionally, I would like to run a campaign that aims to foster open discussion on issues that matter to members of our liberation groups. This campaign will be launched with gender pronoun badges which will be available for students during Welcome Week. My final key objective for the year is to run a Representation in the Media conference, which will offer students who are interested in getting a career in the media the chance to hear and network with industry professionals and develop their skills.

Alongside this, I want to make sure that the amazing work of our student media teams is further promoted.

Feel free to visit or contact me via my officer Instagram or Twitter if you want any more information about getting involved in student media or if you are interested in any campaigns being run by the union!
