Lonsdale is a very sociable college but we’re also serious about our sport and we’re involved in numerous different leagues and competitions held within Lancaster University.
Carter Shield is an inter-college sports event that takes place most Sundays. Sports include pop lacrosse, dodgeball, aeroball, kwik cricket, rounders and many more. This is great opportunity to once again support your college and is a great chance to get involved. Cartershield is free, fun, and creates great friendly rivalry between the colleges. Most importantly anyone can get involved. There is no need to have experience in sport, everyone is welcome. We meet in Lonsdale Bar at 12.30pm on a Sunday and walk up to the sports centre together. Come along, support Lonsdale and help win that inter college trophy!
Football & Netball Leagues
The college netball team play matches across Tuesday and Friday nights and Wednesday afternoons against the other colleges and include both A and B team netball.
The football A league is played on a Wednesday afternoon and the B league over the weekends. We are proud to announce that Lonsdale A team became inter college winners of the league this year.
All these leagues are one of the best ways to be involved with your college and they create strong friendly competition between the other colleges.
The George Wyatt Cup
The George Wyatt cup involves the 3 bar sports in Pool, Darts and Dominos. These leagues are open to both male and female teams and competition takes place throughout the 1st two terms of the university year.
We’ve had a successful season in the George Wyatt cup with our men’s A team pool winning their league, whilst our women’s pool team, mens B team pool & mens darts team all came 2nd in their leagues.
