Parseltongue: Linguistics in the Wizarding World

Francis Nolan, Professor at the University of Cambridge, will be coming to talk about his experiences creating the snake language 'Parseltongue' for the Harry Potter films.
This promises to be a fascinating insight into not only what it takes to be a part of a major film franchise, but also the complex process of creating an artificial language and the role that linguistics can play in mainstream media.

Entry is free for members of the LAEL Society and just £2 for non-members (i.e. other students, staff and even alumni) - All are welcome! To stay up-to-date on event information, select 'going' on our facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/160501881561978/
