Tour de Bowland Reliability Ride with Leisure Lakes Bikes

Put your endurance to the test at Lancaster University Cycling Club's first ever reliability ride, the Tour de Bowland! We welcome all types of cyclist from those taking part in our criterium series to those just looking to explore the beautiful lancashire country side.

This event will take you to Kirkby Lonsdale before heading south into the iconic Forest of Bowland. Two routes will be on offer, one traversing 50 miles passing through Littledale and a 75 mile route tackling the Cross of Greet and the Trough of Bowland. Since this is a reliability ride, the routes will not be signposted or marshalled, you will need to trust your navigational skills. You will be riding on public roads for this event.

Our sponsors, Leisure Lakes Bikes will be providing support for this event and the club will be offering a complimentary recovery service for any attendees that are unable to complete the route. 50% of all entry fees will be donated to the North West Ambulance Service and all participants will be entered into a prize draw courtesy of Leisure Lakes Bikes. With the event beginning and ending on the University Campus, plenty of parking is available and free of charge as well as toilets, changing room and shower facilities. There is also a range of cafes on campus where you can refuel after a long day in the saddle.

Photographs will also be taken on the day, these will be distributed after the event via email. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken then please make us aware of this in the event questionaire and we will blur you out of any photographs before distribution.

Riders will be dispatched in three waves at 08:30, 09:00 and 09:30 with the possibility of splitting groups further depending on turnout to reduce our impact on traffic. You will need to arrive 10 minutes before your start time so we can get everyone signed in. The three groups will leave in decending order of pace with the last group dedicated to attendees following the 50 mile route. Both routes will follow the same path for the first 30 miles so anyone can switch routes up to this point.
