Borrowdale day trip
It will be a day of trad climbing, we will be going to Borrowdale in the lake district where there are opportunities for single pitch and multi-pitch trad.
We will be meeting at University house on campus for 8.30 am on the morning of the trip.
Return times will vary but its unlikely we will return to campus before dark.
Bring:
- any of your own climbing equipment such as climbing shoes, helmet, harness, belay plate
- extra layers and waterproofs - despite spring being in full spring do not underestimate the weather
- pack lunch and plenty of water as we will not be near shops
- appropriate walking footwear, ideally waterproof, grippy and comfortable for walking into Craggs
- Headtorch as it will likely be dark as we are walking back in the dark
If there is any gear you need but don't have, contact a member of the exec, we will do our best to get you some club kit from the gear shed.
Accessibility statement:
The walk-ins to the Craggs will vary in length depending on the conditions as these will affect the crags we chose to go to in the Borrowdale area.
The hikes to the Craggs will be:
- between 10 minutes and an hour
- on rough ground
- along gentle uphill paths
- along the valley floor
- on sections of terrain that include loose rock
If you are uncomfortable with a long walk in, please indicate this on your accessibility statement, you can be in a group with a shorter walk in - 10/15 mins.
There will be no toilets at the crag, so it's best to go before you leave, although wild wees are possible.
As a club, we aim to be as inclusive as possible. If you have any accessibility requirements or medical conditions e.g. asthma, anxiety etc, please indicate these when buying your ticket and let us know if there is anything we can do to help. If you feel that you might need support on the trip, but don't know what this support would look like, don't hesitate to get in touch and we can work on it together. Multiple members of the exec will be at the crag, along with competent leaders and first aiders.
