bouldering daytrip 12th October

Hello everyone, we'll shortly be off on the first LUMC trip of the year! We're going bouldering to one of the many local venues (we'll decide which closer to the date, forecast dependant),  open to all abilities and experience levels. Bouldering is climbing short routes using foam pads rather than ropes to protect a fall, and it's a really accessible way to try outdoor rock climbing! We'll be heading over in the morning and then heading home from early to late afternoon.

Its really easy to go and do this on your own once you know what your doing; you can borrow club pads and head off to our local favourites Windy Clough or Thorn Crag before you know it!

We'll be heading to a crag in the lake district, likely Kentmere, depending on the forecast on the day. This is a crag with a less than 15 minute walk in but could be over uneven ground and on moderate gradients. There are a wide range of problems of various styles and difficulties mostly with good landings.

We'll be meeting at University House, 8 30 am Saturday. University House is located right next to the Bowland porters or Chaiplancy and can be found by walking straight from the library front entrance through the two sets of double doors opposite. Alternatively if my directions are crap, here is a pin

Kit
You will need:

  • Waterproof Coat and lots of Layers, it could get very cold standing around
  • Plenty of Food and Water for the day (Take more than you think)
  • Appropriate footwear for walking across rough terrain
  • Climbing Shoes (If you don't have any, that's fine! Just put so on the form when you buy your ticket and we will let you borrow some)

If you happen to own a bouldering mat, please bring it along! You may want to let us know beforehand if you live in town so we can pick it up.

We aim to make all of our trips fully accessible so we've included a form so you can tell us about any requirements or details you would like to share. Only the exec and appropriate group leaders will see this information. If you have any questions about this trip message Jonathan wood, or for accessibility specific questions, our EDI officer Ben Watson. There are no toilet facillites at the crag.

Get flipping mega psyched!!!!

Any questions, chuck Jonathan Wood a message
