This is our first outdoor trip of the academic year, on which everyone is welcome!
We're planning on heading to one of a handful of crags, depending on which has the better weather forecast. As it stands, this will likely either be Noggarth quarry - a very slabby (low angle) gritstone quarry in south lancashire, or Twistleton Scar, which is a small limestone outcrop in the Yorkshire Dales, near Ingleton. Both are well suited to beginners and more experienced climbers alike, with climbs across a range of difficulties available. With the forecast currently, its likely to be the former.
If the weather proves too poor to climb, we'll either cancel the trip and issue refunds, or go for a big damp day out in the hills somewhere, but we'll keep you updated.
Tickets will go live on Wednesday, at 6pm.
We'll depart from campus, outside University House, at 9am and return in the evening, probably around 7pm (ish!).
Be sure to bring warm and waterproof clothes (it will probably be damp!), food and snacks for the day and any climbing gear you may already own. The walk to the crag is flat and takes 5/10 minutes, along a footpath and then a field. It may be slightly muddy so sturdy trainers/boots are probably a good shout. There are no toilet faciliities at the crag.
The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
