CANYONING!
Canyoning is the marvellous act of jumping down rivers. LUMC are going to Eskdale (The Lake District on Sunday 24th April 2022) to take on this awesome adventure.
We will be leaving from University House at 9am and expect to be returning around 6pm.
One car will be leaving from town.
You will need:
- Wetsuit
- Helmet
- Buoyancy Aid
- Sturdy shoes (That you don't mind wearing in the river and getting wet)
- Towel
- Dry Change of clothes (including shoes!)
- Lunch and lots of extra snacks!
- Warm layers to put on afterwards (even if the weather is awesome you can get cold pretty quickly after!)
- A sense of adventure
- Big Psyche!
If you have own your own Buoyancy Aid, Helmet, and Wetsuit please bring these along. The club however can provide this equipment for those who need it.
Hardship Fund:
LUMC has an amazing hardship fund donated to by members of the club and alumni in order to allow inclusivity for everyone. If you would like to come on the trip but finances are a concern please do not hesitate to apply to our hardship fund. The fund is handled with the upmost discretion and only the treasurer knows the identiy of the applicant.
Any questions regarding this process please contact a member of the exec. (Joe Howell is treasurer).
Accessibility:
As a club, LUMC aim to be as inclusive as possible. Whilst canyoning is a highly active and physical activity we will do our best to accommodate any requirements needed for our members to ensure they have the best experience possible. If you have any concerns please contact a member of the Exec (Trip advisors are Katie Viney and Jude Greaves).
The journey in the car should take approximately 1.5 hours each way.
Whilst we are planning to go to Eskdale we would ask that ticket holders remain flexible. In order for us to ensure a day out we may need to change the specific river we attend at the last minute due to weather and or other circumstances.
The trip will be supported by Matt Amos (LUMC alumni and all round legend!) He has a wealth of experience in canyoning, is first aid trained and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the river. LUMC takes safety very seriously and no one will be made to do anything (specific jumps) they don't want to do or are not comfortable with.
