Long Scar langdale daytrip
This week we'll be running a daytrip to the excellent short, single-pitch trad crags of long scar and black crag, up on Pike O' Blisco in the langdale valley. We'll be leaving campus at 9AM from University House and returning late.
This is an excellent opportunity for those of you keen to bash out a few trad leads on the north Wales trip and want to get a bit of mileage in beforehand. Equally, it'd also be great if you've never climbed before and are looking for an intro to the joys of climbing outdoors (again especially if you're coming on our north Wales trip next weekend!).
There are both 'normal' climber tickets and independant pair tickets for this trip. Normal climber tickets will be with an experienced club leader (there'll be the oppurtunity for trad leads if you want), and independant pair tickets will be with much less supervision; you must be suitably competent, where you'll be leading with one other climber.
Long scar is accessed by a 20min uphill walk at first on a good path and then a brief stint across open moorland which could be boggy; wear suitable shoes. There are no toilet facilities at the crag. We may choose to head to a different venue according to the weather forecast; black crag and long scar are exposed to the elements, so pack for a windy cold day (and hopefully those bonus layers won't be needed!).
