This will be the first weekend trip of your new exec! We're headed to the Bradwell Village hall, which is slap-bang in the middle of the Peak District - home to some of the best trad climbing in the UK. We'll leave Lancaster on the Friday evening (with cars leaving at a variety of times to suit people's timetables), for two days climbing on the grit (and maybe a wee bit of limestone) before a return to Lancaster on the Sunday evening. Further information will be emailed to you closer to the date. Tickets go live here ( TBC! )
The default pickup location will be Gear Shed but your driver should confirm this before the friday.
There are different ticket types available, Climbers tickets are available to anyone, regardless of experience. you just need to be keen to climb!!
Competent 2nd tickets are only available to experienced climbers who can:
Belay on halves
Remove trad gear
Abseil without supervision
Coil Ropes
If you are unsure about whether this is you then either message James Parsons or buy a climbers ticket
You'll need to bring or borrow:
This is a winter trip so you will need lots and lots of warm layers. If you don't have access to any of these items, drop us a message or say so on the google form and we'll sort you out. Heading out onto exposed crags ill-equipped is a spectacularly bad idea and can end badly, so if you come on the trip without having organised to borrow something you need, we may have to leave you in the hut for the day.
Food is provided for the weekend, with a variety of breakfast and lunch materials, and veggie/vegan chilli and curry for the Friday and Saturday evening meals. That said, you may wish to bring a selection of your favourite snacks, along with a sandwich box to put it all in.
If you've any allergies or other dietary requirements please indicate as such when you buy a ticket.
On that note, we aim to be an accessible and inclusive society, so please, please, please tell us about your needs, so we can help support you and enable you to make the most of the trip. Most of the crags we plan on visiting will take around 10-20 minutes of walking to reach, generally slightly uphill and on good paths. There are no toilet facilities at any of the crags, but some have toilets back at the car park.
The sleeping arrangement for the weekend consists of one large hall space, and possibly some seperate rooms for a quiet room and snorers room but this will be confirmed later on, please drop Jono a message if you have any questions
The hut might also get a bit cold so please still bring warm sleeping bags and clothes to sleep in.
If you have any questions please drop Jonathan a message, for accessibility specific requirements please drop Jonathan or Maddie our Womens+ Trip Lead, a message.
