North Wales - Weekend
Snowdon Ranger (YHA)
We are going to North Wales for an amazing weekend at the end of February. We will be staying in the YHA Snowdon Ranger and have exclusive access.
There will be the opportunity for sport and trad climbing in the Llanberis slate quarries, where people will be able to make the step from leading indoors to outdoors.
Due to the numbers on this trip it is crucial that you can CONFIDENTLY top-rope and top-rope belay. There will be an intermediate session held on the Wednesday before the trip (23rd February) that will enable you to consolidate these skills.
We will be leaving on Friday 25th February and returning to Lancaster on 27th February 2022.
The price of your ticket covers cost of transport, accomodation and a weekend of climbing.
If you have a single rope (ideally of at least 50m) and your sport gear please message the gear secs and bring this with you.
We will send information on leaving times etc closer to the day, so please make sure you check your uni e-mail! The e-mail might be sent to your spam folder.
Make sure you read the kit list so that you can bring everything you need. If you lack something please let us know and we might be able to lend you something
Kit List
Remember to pack a rucksack for carrying stuff to the crag, remember this might not just be your stuff as your leader may ask you to carry a rack or ropes!
-Sleeping bag, roll mat, pillow. If you don't have a sleeping bag, please let us know. We are trying to source some more, but it may be best to bring a blanket.
-Waterproofs
-Warm layers (thermals)
-Clothes to climb outdoors in
-Clothes to be indoors in (in the evenings)
-Hiking boots
-Any climbing gear you have
-HEADTORCH AND BATTERIES!!!!!!!
-Snacks and drinks
-Hat and gloves
-Toiletries
-Plenty of water bottles
-Thermos for hot drinks when you are out + tea bags or similar to make hot drink
-Potentially a lunch box so you have something to put your lunches in
-Games for evening, IRISH SNAP!
-As always, a sense of adventure
ACCESSIBILITY: We try our hardest to make trips as accessible as possible, so if you have any requiremnts please let us know. We will designate a quiet space on this trip for anyone that needs some space from the chaos.
