Southern Lakes Trip 24th-26th June!

Next week we will be heading to Duddon Valley to stay in the High Moss hut for our last overnight trip of the year! There are some great crags around the Duddon Valley such as Raven Crag Langdale, Wallowbarrow and Eskdale! We will also be selling some hiking tickets- there's some great hiking and scrambling aorund Coniston, Langdale...

The tickets available will be leaders (for trad leaders), competent seconds (for people who are comfortable belaying on half ropes, abseiling and taking gear out), climbers (for anyone, regardless of experience), and hiking/scrambling tickets for those who fancy a hike around the beautiful Lakes!

As per all LUMC trips, Food will be provided, with veggie evening meals on the Tuesday and Wedneaday nights, alongside basic breakfast and lunch materials to make sandwiches etc. As such, it may be worth bringing some of your favourite snacks of choice to eat when out on the hill (but you'd equally be fine without). If you have any dietary requirements or would like to sleep in the quiet room, please say this on the google form.

If you have any difficulty or worries about being able to pay for the ticket, please apply to the Access Fund.

You'll need to bring or borrow:

  • Waterproof Coat and Trousers (expect it to be wet!)
  • Shorts and warm-weather clothes (expect it to be hot!)
  • Suncream
  • Hiking Boots or Approach shoes
  • Plenty of outdoorsy layers (not jeans); spare layers a good idea.
  • Headtorch (+ batteries!)
  • Water Bottles (~2L total)
  • Toiletries, towel etc.
  • Sleeping bag
  • Any climbing gear you own (ie. Shoes, Harness, Helmet etc.); see the info form.
  • Rucksack to carry your kit to the crag.

If you don't have access to any of these items, speak also indicate this on the google form and we'll sort you out. Even in Summer, heading into the hills ill-equipped is a spectacularly bad idea and can end badly, so if you come onto the trip without having organised to borrow something you need, we may have to leave you in the hut for the day.

Any questions please message Maddie Clark.
