Hi all, for our first roped daytrip of the year, we're planning on heading to the Yorkshire limestone crag of Twistleton Scar, which is an excellent 'trad' venue with routes across the grades accessible to any experience level. Trad climbing involves scaling crags with ropes and removable equipment, such as cams and nuts, to protect the climbers.
We'll meet outside Uni House at 8.30AM, sort out gear and groups, before heading to the crag. We'll will most likely return in the late afternoon.
Kitlist
Lots of Layers, hats and gloves etc
Food and Water for a full day out
Climbing Shoes, Harness, Helmet, Belay Plate and Nut Key (All can be borrowed from the club )
Headtorch (It isn’t fun getting stuck without one, but don't worry if you don't have one)
Appropriate Footwear for rough and steep terrain
We aim to make our trips fully accessible, so please let us know if you have any requirements or adjustments e.g. medication, medical conditions, etc
Please note the British Mountianeering Council participation statement: "The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
