BUCS 8-Ball Championship 2016/17
BUCS (British Universities and College Sports) 8-Ball Pool is one of the biggest events of the year for the teams of Lancaster, especially following our major success in the last 2 events!
The format features teams of 5 for Men and 3 for Women, which begins in a round-robin group stage, with those doing well in the group stages progressing to the knockout stages to compete for the medals and the coveted trophy. Each player plays 2 frames, with the winner of the match being the first team to reach 6 (4 for women) frames. In the event of a tie during the knockout phase, a 3 frame shootout decides who progresses.
You'll also have the chance to show off your individual skills and take on all challengers, in the knockout individual competition. We're yet to feature a winner in the Men's competition, but that could all change very soon! On the other hand, the women have dominated in the past couple of years, with last year featuring an all-Lancaster final!
The dates shown are currently approximate, as the actual dates haven't been confirmed yet. We expect to travel down on the Wednesday preceeding the event, and return on the Sunday afternoon following the presentation of medals and trophies. - The Students’ Union cannot take any responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property brought to an event.
- There will be photographers, videographers and live-streaming on site at some Students’ Union events. By purchasing tickets you are accepting that photographs may be taken of you during the event and that these may be released into the public domain; examples of uses include, though are not limited to, publication on the Students’ Union Facebook page, Students’ Union website and our publications.
