What we do.

 

The committee are here to run campaigns, socials and other events, support LGBTQ+ individuals, and help to ensure there is an active, committed, and inclusive LGBTQ+ community on campus. If you are interested in being on the committee, we hold elections in Michaelmas term. To find out when the next elections are and what positions are available, check for updates on our Facebook page or email su.lgbtq@lancaster.ac.uk.

Our committee runs according to the LGBTQ+ Forum Bylaw, which dictates exactly how we govern.

 

Who we are.

SU LGBTQ+ Liberation and Campaigns Officer

The SU LGBTQ+ Liberation and Campaigns Officer is an elected officer within the student union who facilitates the events that the LGBTQ+ Committee wants to run. They sit on the SU Executive committee and coordinate with multiple adminstrative groups in the University and Union. The Part Time Officer is elected seperatly from the rest of the committee along with the SU Full Time Officers and the Other Liberation and Campaigns Officers, usually in Lent term to take office at the end of each academic year.

 

General Secretary

The gen sec creates the Agendas for and takes minutes at comitee meetings. They also oversee the Forums finances for events and campaigns and help the Liberation and Campaigns Officer in their duties.

 

Social Secretary (two positions)

The Social Secretary is responsible for organising a variety of different types of social events throughout the academic year for the community and getting feedback on the type of events people would like.

 

Campaigns Officer (two positions)

The campaigns officers oversee all Forums campaigns and working with the indentity officers to run campaigns on specific issues.

 

Content Officer

The Content Officer is responsible for helping to ensure that all graphics and posters made by the forum are accessible and they work with the Social meida officer with publicising events and campaigns.

 

Social Media Officer

The Social Media Officer is responsible for running all Forum social media accounts and increasing the Forums online presence through the sharing of relevant news articles, and other usefull resources. They also help the Publicity Officer and Campaigns Officer with the distribution of online campaigns and events.

 

Intersectionality Officer

The Intersectionality Officer is a role that can be held by anyone and operates with other societies to run campaigns and events about intersectionality.

 

Trans+ Officer

The Trans+ Officer is responsible for running the private Trans+ Forum which has a private Facebook group which you can request to join by messaging the main Forum Facebook page here, this is to respect the privacy of those in the group. They also run campaigns related to issues that effect trans people and are a provider of welfare to the trans members of the community.

 

Queer+ Officer

The Queer+ Officer is someone who self identifies as one or more less-represented identities within the LGBTQ+ community. They run campaigns and workshops to raise awareness of less-represented identities and provide welfare for members of the community who identify with a less-represented identity.

 

BAME Officer

The BAME Officer is someone who self identifies as BAME. They run campaigns and workshops regarding BAME issues in the LGBTQ+ community and provide welfare support for BAME members of the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Women+ Officer

The Women+ Officer is a self indentifying female or non-binary person who runs campaigns and workshops on issues that effect women. They also provide welfare to people in the LGBTQ+ community who idenyify as female or non-binary.

 

Men+ Officer

The Men+ Officer is a self identifying male or non-binary person who runs campaigns and workshops on issues effecting men. They also provide welfare to male or non-binary members of the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Faith Officer

The Faith Officer is a self identifying person of faith who runs campaigns and workshops on issues effecting people of faith or people from faith backgrounds. They also provide welfare to members of the LGBTQ+ community who are religous or from a religous background and they also run a private forum for these people to recieve support from the community without being "outed".
