Are You Ready for Your Liberation Elections?

Monday 09-06-2025 - 15:37

This week, it’s time for your Liberation Groups at LUSU to decide who will take on leadership roles for the 2025/26 academic year.

Liberation at LUSU is about equality and advocating for marginalised groups within our community. Following a vote by Union Assembly, the way we do this important work has changed. You can read some more on that change here.

Not all of our Liberation Groups will be holding official elections, as our groups don’t follow one defined system. For example, your BAME Committee won’t be holding competitive elections, unless it is later deemed necessary.

So, who is? And when can you vote?

LGBTQ+ Community

Your LGBTQ+ Community will be holding votes this Tuesday 10th June at their Annual General Meeting:

Tuesday 10th June, 6pm, Fylde LT1

Accessibility Community

For the 2025/26 academic year, your Accessibility Community will be holding election voting on Wednesday 11th June at their Annual Meeting:

Wednesday 11th June, 5-7pm, Welcome Centre LT3

International Students’ Forum

Join your International Students’ Forum for voting on Thursday 12th June at their Annual Meeting:

Thursday 12th June, 6-8pm, Faraday Lecture Theatre

Women’s+ Network

And finally, your Women’s+ Network will be hosting their election vote on Friday 13th June during their Annual Meeting:

Friday 13th June, 5:30pm, Welcome Centre LT2

All in all, a busy week for our Liberation Groups!

Anyone who identifies within a community is a part of that group and therefore can vote. So, if you’re interested, make sure to turn up and have your say!
