The Students’ Union is very sorry to bring you the sad news that a member of our community has died.

Freya Coppen, who was a Pendle College student, joined Lancaster University in 2020-21 to study for a BSc in Environmental Science.

Freya, who was living at her family home in Thornton Cleveleys, died suddenly last weekend. The cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.

The University has reached out to her family and are offering them as much support as possible.

We want to pass on our sincere condolences to Freya’s loved ones. We know she will be greatly missed by the University community.

An online book of condolence will shortly be made available through the Student Portal and Staff Intranet, so we can share our tributes and memories of Freya.

We will also join together as a University community to remember Freya at a campus memorial event once we have had time to absorb this sad news and make suitable arrangements with Freya’s family.
