Join LUSU and your Full-Time Officer (FTO) Candidates for Candidate Questions this election period.

Elections are coming!

With elections just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about who you want to lead your LUSU in the 2025/26 academic year. Got questions for your potential candidates? Want to decide who will be getting your vote?

On Monday 3rd March, take the chance to ask your questions at our Candidate Questions Evening.

From 6PM, each candidate up for our four FTO positions will be taking questions from each other, and you.

What happened last year?

Want an idea of how it works? Take a look at the 2024 Candidate Questions evening below:

This is your opportunity to meet the candidates and learn more about how they want to change the future of student experiences at Lancaster.

Submit your question in-advance!

If you’re a student, please come along to the event and ask your question. However, if you want to ensure that your question is considered, you can pre-submit your question via this short form.

What is it like from a candidate's perspective?

 Harrison Stewart, Education Officer 25/26:
“Hustings was tough, very tough. But I did love it. There was a lot of contentious questions which made things really interesting. I prepared for this more than any other engagement I had during the election; it was definitely the most nerve-wracking part of campaigning.”

Cerys Evans, President 25/26:
“I was super nervous about doing Candidate Questions every time I did it but looking back it was a really great experience. It's a fab chance to build public speaking skills and is the one part of the election process that I think really reflects what you need to be able to do in the job.”

Ella Smith, Wellbeing Officer 25/26:
“You've got to be able to think on your feet - it's exciting. You never know what will come up. I was nervous for it at the time but, like other parts of campaigning, it's a great experience to prepare you for the role of an FTO.”

Jack Watson, Activities Officer 25/26:
“I thought Candidate Questions was brilliant. It’s a little nerve wracking, but that’s only because it’s only one of few very public opportunities you have, in the small space of time of campaigning, to show everyone what you stand for. For me, it’s the sometimes pretty scrutinising questions which are most exciting!”

So, join us in the Margaret Fell Lecture Theatre and get ready to cast your vote.
