Vice-President (Activities) Ben Francis started the Sport Lancaster student consultation with free breakfasts.
Sport Lancaster, now in its third year, is a joint project between Lancaster University Students’ Union and Lancaster University which aims to develop the sport offer to students at Lancaster, provide further development to teams, foster elite sport and provide opportunities for recreational activity.
Ben, along with staff from the Students’ Union and Sports Centre spent Friday morning asking teams and students using the gym and training what they think about current infrastructure and where they would like to see funding and resources go when it comes to sporting activity and new facilities.
Since the introduction of Sport Lancaster we have seen higher BUCS positions, more club promotions and bigger Roses points.
The changes to Sport Lancaster came in while Ben was a student and he is keen to make sure it continues to be a benefit to students. ‘Now that Sport Lancaster is established it’s important we make sure it suits what students and teams need and want so we can keep developing it and making sure there is a sports offer that suits Lancaster.’ Ben will be holding a twitter Q&A in week 6 on the topic as well as
