England Rugby legend Jonny Wilkinson, Welsh Rugby star Shane Williams and England footballer Gary Neville sent messages of congratulations to our Men's Rugby Union Club after they raised more than £8,000 in aid of men's health during Movember.
More than a dozen Lancaster teams signed up to raise money for the cause.
A special mention was given during the event to the Lancaster University Mens Rugby Union Football Club (LURUFC) who managed to raise an amazing amount of over £8,000 over the course of the monthearning a place on the official Movember fund raising page.
Union Vice-President (Activities) Toby Wilkinson helped to coordinate a surprise in the form of a video which had some very special messages for the team.
The video was unveiled on Friday at a special event that included the highly contested category of ‘Mo-Of-The-Month’.
VP (Activities) Toby Wilkinson said: "When we encouraged teams to get involved in Movember at the start of the month, I could not have predicted the incredible efforts of so many of our teams and individuals. The money that Lancaster collectively raised is going a long way in terms of suicide prevention and saving men’s lives. I am hugely proud to work alongside and represent a student body that is capable of such selfless and inspiring movements. Thank you all and keep being great!"
LURFC’s Movember page can still be found here for those wishing to make contributions to their fantastic fundraising efforts. A massive congratulations to all of our students for their contributions to the Movember cause throughout the month!
