Our Fireworks Spectacular returns for 2021

Wednesday 27-10-2021 - 12:04

Sharing the Guy Fawkes night tradition with our international community, the event will include tasty traditional treats, fabulous student performances and a fantastic fireworks display

Bonfire night has been an annual tradition in the UK for hundreds of years as a way of celebrating the foiled plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605. Traditionally celebrated with fireworks and a large bonfire, the students' union's display is part of nationwide celebrations. Our Fireworks Spectacular will be a wonderful way for international students to experience the event for the first time and for all students to come together and enjoy the atmospheric event for the first time in a long time. The event also coincides with Diwali this year, a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists.

The Fireworks Spectacular will take place in Lancaster Square on November 4th, with gates opening at 6pm and the display starting at 8pm.

Please note:

  • As always, we expect this event will be busy, so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment
  • The fireworks will be set off from the woods behind Lancaster Square (County College) so you might be able to view from your accommodation or nearby spaces
  • The car park below the display will be closed for safety reasons, please park elsewhere if you need access to your car during the event
  • No sparklers are permitted at the event

Join the event

See you at the spectacular!
