On November 25 November student group Red Rose Refugees held a community event at St Thomas Church Lancaster to raise awareness and funds for asylum seeker and refugee groups.
The Autumn Fiesta, held at St Thomas’s on November 25 was a festival of food, live music, including LU Gospel Choir, family activities, various craft stalls and an abundance of cakes and refreshments. Children and families were kept entertained all day with activities and face painting. The event was a huge success with over 400 people coming together to celebrate the Lancaster community and support the work of the local groups. £1350 was raised on the day for these local groups. Organisers said, “We were overwhelmed by the turn out, the amount of money raised, and the support we got from everyone. There was a buzzing atmosphere all day. It was a pleasure to see all the different organisations in one place and appreciate the amazing work they do in our local community.”
