The Societies and Media Awards Was A Night To Remember!

 

 

On Saturday 24th June, over 100 societies student leaders gathered at Barker House Farm to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the over 150 societies that make the Lancaster student community something very special to be a part of.

 

The socities team had recieved well over 200 nominations for the 15 awards. Dany Goodwin (VP Societies and media), the Societies Team and FTO team were blown away by all the nominations and wish we could give a trophy to each shortlisted group. Dany and the Team would also like to recognise all the fantastic events, charity work, competition successes and all activity in between that took place this year which weren’t nominated.

 

After the awards, Bailrigg's Battle of the Bands took the stage and blew us all away! A big thank you to everyone who competed, and congratulations to the winners of Bailrigg's Battle of the Bands 2023, The Director's, you rock!

Student Media Contributor of the Year: Riley Williams (Bailrigg FM and LA1TV)

 

Triumph Over Adversity: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

 

Best Collaboration: Roses Media Coverage (LA1TV, Bailrigg FM, SCAN)

 

Sustainability Award: Edible Campus

 

Roses Standout Performance: Shaun Liddle (LUDarts)

 

Lasting Impact Award: Ffion Jones (Defying Dementia)

 

Best Student Media Feature: Beth Train-Brown ('Red Wash for Underwater Hockey: The Coolest Sport You’ve Never Heard Of'- SCAN)

 

Equality and Diversity Award: Pole Fitness Society

 

Leaps and Bounds Awards: Lancaster Motorsports Society

 

Event of the Year: The Linguistics and English Language Society's Murder Mystery Night

 

Media Group of the Year: LA1TV

 

VP Award for Individual Achievement: Alice Grennan (Lec Soc Netball)

 

Society of the Year: Casual Football Society
