We are deeply shocked to learn about the hateful, homophobic, and antisemitic graffiti scrawled along the parade route ahead of Morecambe Pride on Saturday 29th July 2023. 

 

Jewish and LGBTQ+ people deserve to feel safe within the Lancaster and Morecambe community. 

 

We are committed to furthering our work with the Local Authority and other organisations to promote preventative intervention and community action in response to this incident. 

 

Lancaster Students deserve to feel safe, wherever they go. This type of imagery and violence has no place in our community, especially at an event focused around celebrating love and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people. Lancaster University Students' Union and the University Ward Councillors join together to condemn this act resolutely and work together to better our community.
