After four years at Lancaster University Rugby Union Club Sam Cusworth has set himself an incredible challenge in support of the mental health charity Mind and plans to climb each of the 214 Wainwright peaks in just over two weeks!

Covering 326 miles (which is just short of a marathon a day for two weeks) Sam will be climbing 35,000m over the course of this trek, the equivalent of this ascent is equal to climbing Everest four times!

Sam said: "It will be physically and mentally challenging, but I will have a support team monitoring my progress throughout the journey. If anyone would like to join me for a leg of the route or at the finishing point, it is very welcome.

"I am doing this to fund-raise for Mind, a mental health charity. Having gone through struggles myself, I understand how hard it can be to speak out or seek help. In my situation, I was lucky to have people close to me to help me out and encourage me to talk. However, there are so many unheard voices, something which clearly needs to change. By doing this I hope to continue to raise awareness for mental health and the services available, as well as fundraising to support Mind."

One in four of us will experience a mental health problem every year. Alongside essential Mental Health Services, exercise is just one of the ways in which people tackle mental health issues. We're not suggesting everyone takes on climbing 214 fells, but a simple stroll can make the world of difference.

We can't wait to see Sam take on this challenge and wish him the best of luck!
