Roses are red and green, as the students' union commits to sustainable merchandising for Roses Unlocked event
We all know Roses are red, as students devoutly fight to prove each year at our annual Roses tournament against York. Roses is one of the largest varsities in Europe and as with any large scale event, has its own carbon footprint.
In the lead up to our 2020 home Roses, the team worked tirelessly to tackle this. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 event, we continue to support the swap to sustainable merchandise. This year, in partnership with Zero Negativity Clothing, all of our Roses Unlocked merchandise is:
*Happy dance*
Development Manager for Environmental Sustainability, Darren Axe said: "It's great that the Students' Union has teamed up with Lancashire-based Zero Negativity Clothing to provide merchandise for the Roses Unlocked event. The supply-on-demand nature of this procurement eliminates the material waste that often arises from supply exceeding demand for one-off events. ZNC has a thorough approach to ethical and sustainable supply chains and comprehensive lifecycle impact analysis of products and we're delighted to also be using their products for Green Lancaster workwear".
We know you'll be as happy as we are about the swap. If you'd like to support the swap to sustainable merch, why not buy one for yourself?
