The students’ union is aware of a TikTok video circulating where a former Lancaster University student has bravely spoken out about an incident he was the victim of in February 2018.   

The racism that Sa'ad experienced is sickening and completely unacceptable, but what makes it so much worse is the inadequate response he received when he reported it. We are extremely concerned to hear what happened. 

 Any student reporting racist abuse should expect it to be thoroughly and properly investigated, with action taken against anyone found responsible. 

We hear the University's response, and we hope that the measures they have taken will ensure such an incident is never dealt with in this way again. 

The Students' Union is here for any student who suffers racist abuse, and we will support them if they want to report the matter to the University or the Police.
