As the cost-of-living crisis continues, we have been working across the Union to campaign for more cost-of-living support for you.

Last year we introduced Supper Club, providing a free meal every week to hundreds of students, but we lost the funding from the University at the end of the year.

This year, thanks to the tireless efforts of your President, VP Welfare, the Full-Time Officer team, and Union staff, we can announce that Supper Club is returning for Lent term 23/24 every Thursday night from 6pm, where we will be giving away free hot meals to students!

It’s been an uphill battle to secure this funding and we are continuing to fight to fund Supper Club for the future, but we need your help to #SaveOurSupper.

Part of the agreement for the funding is dependent on us submitting an evaluation on who needs Supper Club and why. This means that you will have to book a ticket through our website, or at the event using a QR code link, and fill in a 20 second form.

We need your help to #SaveOurSupper by demonstrating to the University that this support is a necessary provision for student wellbeing. Without this information it is very unlikely that we will get any funding for free food events beyond the end of this term.

Supper Club will continue to run on a first come, first served basis so a ticket is not a guarantee. The funding that we have means that we can only provide 180 portions per event on average.

Want to do more to help #SaveOurSupper? We would love to hear your stories about what Supper Club means to you, and why it’s so important. We can use this as evidence for more funding going forward. The President will be leading this project so you can write her an email (su.president@lancaster.ac.uk) or keep an eye out during Supper Club for a place you can share your story on the night.

There will be additional wellbeing sessions and activities to get involved in at Supper Club, led by your VP Welfare, as a “value added” part of the weekly event to support you in different areas of your life. You can also visit our Wellbeing Hub for information on what support is available.

Your Full-Time Officer team continue to campaign and lobby for more cost-of-living support for students, join us in our efforts to #SaveOurSupper.
