Lancaster University has a rich history of student activism, from strikes and protests to marches and occupations. Join our discussion panel to find out what student activists at Lancaster have achieved, and what should happen next!
Our panel of academics and former and current student activists will discuss the dynamics of campus activism and student movements, and how they shape the culture of activism and dissent in higher education spaces. Our panellists include:
Matthew Wilson, alumnus and member of the 'George Fox 6'
Rachael Alake, student and leader of the 'Why Is My Curriculum White?' campaign
Dr Cassie Earl from Educational Research
Dr Jacob Phelps from LEC
This one-off discussion is being presented by the Student Activism Programme, a new campaigns incubator and development project to champion and empower today's student activists. This event will mark the forthcoming launch of our exhibition, in collaboration with the Library Archive, celebrating our rich and exciting history of student activism at Lancaster University!
