LANCASTER BOMBERS AMERICAN FOOTBALL
TASTER SESSION SATURDAY 5th/Sunday 6th October
Bring boots, water, sports clothing, gumshield if you have one (Not compulsory for the taster)!
Welcome to the Lancaster Bombers American Football Club! We compete in the BUCS North Western Tier 2, along with the Keele Crusaders, Edge Hill Vikings, and Staffordshire Stallions with the opportunity of Playoff football. We always finish the season with the famous Roses event against the York Centurions.
Whether you're an experienced player coming from the junior leagues or have never watched a game in your life, all are welcome - no knowledge of the rules, no problem. We are a mixed-gender team and have all different kinds of players with all body types, so we are sure that we can find a position that suits you!
Our family approach to football creates a long-lasting community; with Sunday afternoons and evenings spent watching all of the games together and socials on a Wednesday. You will quickly get to know your teammates and these events are a nice break from football and creating bonds between teammates.
We've set up a prospective players group chat (link above) as a way for you to register your interest for the 2024/25 season. This will let you keep tabs on upcoming events such as rookie sessions, where you can try your hand at the different positions in American Football, and answer any questions you might have: football or non-football related!
Membership
Our membership cost is £100 for the upcoming year, paid in two termly installments, £60 in Michaelmas Term and the other £40 in Lent Term (£90 for single yearly payment). This payment will give you access to shoulder pads, lowers, a helmet as well as fully qualified coaches and kit for training. All Sport Lancaster clubs that are members of BUCS use the Sports Centre and their facilities and have a lot of club expenses paid for, so require a Sport Lancaster Red Membership. This will be explained by the executive committee, however, once you do have a Sport Lancaster Red Membership, you can join as many BUCS teams as you'd like!
Training Times
Our current training times are:
- Tuesdays: 18:00 - 20:00, Lecture Theatre Chalk and Talk
- Tuesdays: 20:00 - 22:00, 3G
- Saturdays: 20:00 - 21:00 3G
- Sundays (If there is no gameday): 10:00 - 12:00 3G
