Description

We are a group of LU students interested in promoting fitness while at uni. We have a range of members from beginners to advanced who take part in regular workouts, classes and socials to promote physical fitness alongside our studies.

 

What is Calisthenics?

Calisthenics is a type of workout that uses a person's body weight with little or no equipment. The exercises involve movements that use large muscle groups. People typically perform these exercises at a moderate pace. They help to improve coordination, flexibility, and strength.

 

All of our fitness sessions include workouts that are completely inclusive for beginners, as well as providing a challenge for people that are more advanced.

 

What you can expect from us

  • Help and advice to achieve your personal fitness goals through planned progressional exercises and workouts. Though we will provide workouts, we encourage all members to share their knowledge and experiences surrounding fitness. Members are invited to write workouts for sessions and amend any workout to their own needs. 

  • Organised workouts 3 times a week around the Lancaster University campus.

  • New workout ideas throughout the year.

  • If you ever want to come to just chill, that's fine.

  • Discrimination, harassment, and bullying will not be tolerated.

Membership options and pricing

You must have an active membership with our society to attend any of our sessions.

 

- Free Taster membership - Gives you access to all our sessions for the first 2 weeks of Michaelmas term. This is a great opportunity to try out the society before committing to a full membership.

- £5 Termly membership - Gives you access to all our sessions for an entire term.

- £10 Yearly membership - Gives you access to all our sessions for the entire academic year.

 

There is no additional charge to attend any of our sessions as well as no requirement to have a gym membership.

Our session times

Our first sessions of the term are:
Monday 7th October 6:00-7:45pm
Tuesday 8th October 6:30-8:15pm
Thursday 10th October 6:00-7:45pm

Specialised workout

These workouts will be more focused on specific calisthenic skills, developing on the exercises each week
Tuesday 6:00-7:45pm Welcome Centre Lecture Theatre 4 Full Body Workout These sessions will consist of a full-body workout, targeting all muscle groups and incorporating cardio
Thursday 6:00-7:45pm Welcome Centre Lecture Theatre 4 Specialised workout These workouts will be more focused on specific calisthenic skills, developing on the exercises each week

 

In the summer we sometimes workout outside, in this case we will be working out at the bars opposite the sports centre (bosc) as shown below. However, for most of the year, especially during terms 1 & 2, we will be working out indoors in the Welcome Centre Lecture Theatre 4.
