The Lancaster University Junior Lawyers Against Poverty Society was founded in 2021 and is the Lancaster branch of the national Lawyers Against Poverty (LAP) student initiative. The aim of the initiative is to not only encourage on-campus student involvement in human rights, access to justice and international development but also create a international network of students and junior lawyers working to eradicate poverty through improving access to justice and legal education globally.
At Lancaster we incorporate these aims by providing students the opportunity to get involved in activities, projects and events that aim to raise awareness of issues relating to human rights, access to justice, and international development. Some of the opportunities we offer include:
