Lancaster University Mathematics Society (MathSoc)

What we do

MathSoc organises and runs a variety of academic and social events for all students at Lancaster University who are interested in mathematics, particularly mathematics and statistics students. Our objective is to help our members have a fun and rewarding experience at Lancaster and support them in achieving their academic and career goals.

Our recurring activities are:

  • Maths Café
A weekly social event to hang out with your fellow mathematicians. Whether you're in the mood for some light conversation or you're stuck on a tough proof, Maths Café is the place to be!

  • Socials
In the past, these have included bar crawls, pub quizzes, movie nights and even a chess league. Details about our upcoming socials can be found below!

  • Revision workshops
We organise end-of-module revision workshops for first-year maths modules (MATH100 and MATH110 series) to get you test-ready! There are generally organised by higher-year Academic Officers and often involve module lecturers.
