Description

Welcome to Lancaster University Women in Business (LUWIB)!

Lancaster University’s Women in Business Society aims to support and encourage ambitious and aspiring women by helping to improve their business skills and consequently, their career prospects. Through our events, we aim to help increase understanding of business and entrepreneurship, introduce members to the vast variety of opportunities available to them during and after university, and improve a range of important skills, such as networking and commercial awareness.

We also run a weekly newsletter highlighting the upcoming opportunities for students to get involved in which could be anything from university-based schemes and virtual careers fairs to internships and graduate roles. This year, we are also proud to announce our new sponsors Lloyd's Banking Group, and our new partners GAIN- Girls Are Investors!

Our event series currently include:

  • Intro to Industries -This series consists of speaker and panel events with a workshop element to interactively introduce our members to each industry and walk them through what employment in this area resembles daily.
  • Employability sessions- These sessions target the specific skills that will drastically increase employability as a new graduate such as CV, interview, and internship assessment support sessions.
  • Self-growth sessions- Our self-growth series aims to aid personal development through our members’ university years. With a less academic focus, this enables our members to network with peers and develop healthy habits. We also make sure to utilise and raise awareness of university schemes and support through these sessions.
  • Girls night sessions- We also host informal gathering events with an emphasis on creating a safe and inclusive space for all women to enjoy some time away from academia.
