The Students’ Union is very sad to announce the passing of a member of our community, following a period of illness. 

 

Victoria Nixon graduated from Bowland College with a BSc in Geography in July 2023 and went on to work with the University, coordinating the ECOEats project. ECOEats is a well-known student project across campus that originated as an idea at the 2023 ECOChallenge. 

Victoria worked closely with the Green Lancaster team and a wider team of student volunteers. The project delivered free, sustainable food boxes to students’ accommodation and provides an ongoing programme of community cooking and food engagement events. 

The Green Lancaster team (Darren Axe, Scott Barker, and Anna Mummery) worked closely with Victoria:

“Victoria’s role in coordinating and catalysing ECOEats was significant. Victoria brought enthusiasm, energy and determination to this project and a real personal touch to all the collaborations that have been built. We will very sadly miss Victoria’s input across the University”. 

An online book of condolence is available on the University portal for the sharing of memories of Victoria and tributes to her.
