The Democracy Committee agree to revise the 2021 elections timetable to suit the virtual campaigning method & help candidate wellbeing
Revised dates to the voting period come following a meeting of the Democracy committee, consisting of the JCR executives, and the Union Development officer. The Committee were concerned a lengthy voting period would be detrimental to candidate wellbeing - given that the only campaigning techniques available to them would be purely digital.
The committee also felt the campaigning period, in which candidates were able to promote their candidacy was to short - given that it will take time to build momentum on social media surrounding their campaigns. As such, the committee has stated that campaigning can begin from the 24th February. One week prior to voting opening.
