LU Badminton's Adam Stewart smashed it this weekend with a win in Badminton England Lancashire doubles tournament.

Adam and partner Andy, who are soon going to compete together in Welsh Nationals, took first place in the doubles in the Senior Bronze category. This is the first time Adam and Andy have played together in competition since training together as juniors. After making it through the group stages the pair then glided through the knockouts to take first place. In total they played 6 matches all of which are best of 3 set to 21. It’s a lot of badminton.

Five Lancaster players entered the tournament with another member making it out of the group stages in the singles.

Adam is feeling very confident for the rest of  LU Badmintons the season. “The men’s first have a big match against Liverpool coming up - a win there would almost guarantee the league win! We also have the cup quarter final around the corner. Women 1st also have a cup quarter final. Men’s 2nd are looking to put pressure on their league leader to aim for the top spot.”

When it comes to Roses, which is all doubles, Adam feels the results at the weekend makes Roses look promising for Lancaster but with a York player making it the semi-finals this weekend it is still going to be an interesting fixture.

LU Badminton still have BUCS Individual Championships and a final circuit tournament as well as BUCS and cup matches before Roses so make sure you keep up to date with them here.
