The Lancaster Autistic Social Society (LASS) have won second place at the annual Mental Wellbeing in Higher Education Working Group (MWBHE) and president Jack Roby was invited to travel down to London to collect the award on the 6th March.

The decision to present the award to the student group in Lancaster was made in response to the ‘simplicity yet effectiveness’ of the structure and running of their society which helps to support students with autism and enable them to engage socially with other students in smaller groups. The judges also stated that the simplicity of the idea means that it’s easily replicable and therefore is a strategy that could be adopted with relative ease by other universities.

The society only set up at the beginning of the academic year, this achieve already sets a precedent for what’s to come with LASS!
