Elections Are Coming...

Monday 23-02-2026 - 11:50

It's that time of year again… LUSU Elections are on the way!

Elections are coming...

With nominations closed, and the start of campaigning just around the corner, we’re closer than ever to elections officially beginning.

Elections period is a busy and sometimes chaotic experience, that happens in a short amount of time. So, while it may seem overwhelming, we’re here to assure you that it’s much simpler than it seems. So, here’s your reminder of what to expect as elections roll around...

Friday 27th February @ 10AM: Campaigning opens!

When the fun will really begins!

On Friday, your candidates will officially announce themselves and start campaigning. Expect to see their faces all over campus, popping up in lectures etc. Campaigning ends when voting does and cannot be done before or after this specific amount of time. You can read up on the specific rules of campaigning, and find other helpful resources & guidance here.

Monday 2nd March @6PM: Candidate Questions

Got some questions for your candidates? Want to learn more about who you could be voting for? Come along to Candidate Questions in LEC 1, Biology Lt1 from 6PM.

This is your chance to ask all your burning questions and put the candidates under a spotlight.

Tuesday 3rd March @10AM: Voting opens

And then it begins…

From Tuesday-Thursday you can vote for your 2026/27 Full-Time Officers (FTOs). We use preferential voting, so you can pick your first, second, and third choice for each role (if you want).

Plus, it’s all online – no need to even get out of bed!

Learn more about how voting works here.

Thursday 5th March @6PM: Voting closes

And then it’s done!

Voting will close on Thursday at 6PM, so don’t forget to get your vote in. We’ll remind you throughout the voting period, including through email – keep an eye on your inbox!

Friday 6th March: The Results

Finally, it’s time for the big announcement.

On Friday 6th, once all the votes have been counted and checked, we’ll be announcing the results to you.

You can come along in person or watch the live stream of results – it’s up to you! More info on the location and time will be available so keep an eye on our social media for updates!

And that’s that! A busy – but short – little chunk of time.
