This project is being led by Academic Representatives and LUSU Officers, working together with university stakeholders to better understand and improve the timetable for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Timetabling has a significant impact on students’ academic experience and day-to-day lives. Beyond when classes take place, it affects how students manage mixed online and in-person teaching, part-time work, commuting, research responsibilities, wellbeing, and opportunities to engage in sports, societies, and other activities that are central to the student experience.

As Academic Reps and LUSU Officers, we are continuing to work on this project and gather student feedback to inform ongoing conversations about timetables. We know that some students experience long days on campus, limited breaks between sessions, difficulties transitioning between online and in-person classes, or challenges when teaching is scheduled at times that restrict access to work or extracurricular activities - including concerns around Wednesday afternoon teaching, which is intended to remain free of compulsory academic sessions.

To ensure this work reflects real student experiences, we are running a short survey open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The survey aims to capture a broad range of perspectives across departments, study levels, and living situations.

Your feedback will help us:

  • Better represent student needs and experiences
  • Identify key challenges affecting learning, wellbeing, and work–study balance
  • Continue advocating for student-centered improvements to timetabling

The survey takes 4-6 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous.

By taking part, you are directly supporting the ongoing work of Academic Reps and LUSU Officers to improve timetabling at Lancaster University.

We would really appreciate your time and your voice. You can access the survey here
