5 weeks after the annual production of ‘The Vagina Monologues” the cast and crew of the Vagina Monolancs society brought back the charity fun run Lancaster University Run Against Domestic Violence (LURADV) which last happened in 2015. With the help of Lancaster University Students’ Union and the LU Running Club, over 70 people ran, walked, and jogged 5k around campus on Saturday, March 18th. That’s a collective 350 kilometers. That’s the equivalent of running to Reading!

Between registration costs and a fundraising page, the organization has raised over ÂŁ1,100 for Women’s Community Matters in Barrow from the run. Each year the society chooses a different local organization that deals with victims of domestic violence, and this year chose Women’s Community Matters at the request of a cast member who has benefited from their services.

Between the show, bake sales, and the run, the Vagina Monolancs is expected to donate over ÂŁ3,000 to the charity.

Lancaster Women+ Officer, Alex Brock said, “I don’t think any of us imagined how many people would get involved in the event, either running in it or donating. Between organizing the show and then LURADV, it’s been an incredibly busy term but we have such an amazing cast who works so hard, and had so much support from LUSU and running club, who have made it all so worth it. I couldn’t be happier with how much we’ve raised and can’t wait to see the amazing work Women’s Community Matters does with it.”

You can keep donating here.
