LUSU election season is almost upon us once again! We are excited to announce upcoming elections for the Students’ Union Full-Time Officer (FTO) posts for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Key Dates and Timeline:   

Nominations Open: Monday 26th January 2026 (Week 13) @ https://lancastersu.co.uk/nominate    

Nominations Close: Monday 16th February 2026 (Week 16)     

Candidate Briefing: Tuesday 17th February 2026 (Week 16)     

Campaigning Opens & Candidate Announcement: 10am, Friday 27th February 2026 (Week 17)     

Candidate Questions: Monday 2nd March 2026 

Voting Opens: 10am, Tuesday 3rd March 2026 (Week 18) @ https://lancastersu.co.uk/vote   

Voting Closes: 6pm, Thursday 5th March 2026 (Week 18)     

Results: Friday 6th March 2026 (Week 18) 

 

Positions Up for Election:  

President 25/26 

Leads the Students’ Union’s Full-Time Officer team, supporting them to deliver for students. The President acts as Chair of the Trustee Board and College Presidents’ Committee (amongst other important committees). They are also the Students’ Union’s lead spokesperson and have a seat on University Council and Senate.

Activities Officer 25/26 

The primary student representative and political lead for sports, societies, student media, and extracurricular events. The Activities Officer acts as Chair of Societies Committee, Sports Committee, and co-chair of the Roses Committee. They also take responsibility for Bailrigg FM, LA1TV, Take2 Cinema, and SCAN.

Education Officer 25/26 

The lead representative on all academic matters; your teaching, learning, facilities, assessments, learning resources, and placements. The Education Officer facilitates and support the work of Student Academic Reps and has a seat in important decision-making spaces in the University.

Wellbeing Officer 25/26  

The primary student representative on student wellbeing matters, campaigns, and initiatives. The Wellbeing Officer works for the betterment of students’ health and wellbeing, as well as supporting the work of our Liberation and Campaigns forums and officers.

Student Trustee (2 positions available) 

As a registered charity, the Students’ Union’s operations are overseen by our Board of Trustees. The Board is made up of our Full-Time Sabbatical Officers as the political leadership of the organisation, a number of external trustees who provide their own experience and expertise, as well as four directly elected, voluntary Student Trustees. The Board is chaired by the President and meet at several points throughout the year. 

Any member of the Students’ Union can run for this position. If you have an interest in how organisations are run and would like to help support the effective running of LUSU, please consider putting yourself forward.
