Show Yourself Some Love at Our Live Well Expo

Friday 09-02-2024 - 10:44

Sometimes with a busy uni schedule you can forget to look after the number one person in your life...you! This Valentineā€™s Day, why not take a break from the daily grind and focus on some self-love at our Live Well Expo?

We get it. Valentineā€™s Day is often far too focused on having a significant other and is over-saturated with the need for chocolates, balloons and flowers. But when youā€™re not feeling one hundred percent, no matter how loved you are, a box of chocolates sometimes just isnā€™t enough to fix the stresses and demands of everyday life. So, this year we think itā€™s time for you to love yourself first - by putting some quality time into improving the person that matters the most ā€“ you.

This Valentineā€™s Day from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, the Great Hall will be transformed into a wellbeing utopia, with a variety of activities for you to get stuck into - focusing on all things self-care, wellbeing and health.

A wise woman once said, ā€œif you donā€™t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?ā€

At the LiveWell Expo, you get the perfect chance to treat yourself to some well-deserved self-love. All under one roof, you can check out the variety of local health, support and wellness services that are available to help you throughout your university experience. You can get a personalised health assessment with the Sports Centre, try tasty free samples from Juicafe and get living your best life with SU Living!

You donā€™t have to break the bank this Valentineā€™s Day - thereā€™ll be plenty of freebies for you to get your hands on, and a range of wellbeing activities for you to take part in ā€“ completely free of charge.

Hereā€™s an insight into the dayā€™s schedule...

12-1pm - Brain turned into mush recently? Give boom whacking a go! Sometimes all you need is to bash some sticks together to let off some steam. So, join ULMS for a free boom whacker demonstration and workshop - no musical knowledge needed whatsoever.

1-2pm - Find your zen with Yogalates! Join Ali Moorhouse for free and therapeutic chair yogalates sessions. Improve your mental and physical wellbeing (& fix your posture) with a blend of Yoga, breathwork and Pilates core-strengthening and posture-improving exercises.

2:30pm ā€“ Music for the soul - get ready for an Aca-awesome acapella performance!

Thereā€™ll be plenty more activities and entertainment until 4:00pm, so make sure to come along and check it out.

"Uni life can be a whirlwind of deadlines, exams, and all-nighters. But amidst the chaos, it's super important to prioritise your own wellbeing. We are all about supporting you, not just academically, but also in keeping your mental and physical health in check. Whether you need a listening ear, some self-care tips, or just a friendly chat, we've got your back.

Live Well Expo is a chance for you to be our Valentines this 14th and find out more about taking care of yourself and having fun. Student Leaders from across the Union will be joining us in our "Talking Stage" (get it šŸ˜‰) with Bailrigg FM to discuss how the Lancaster community can better support each other"

- Josh, Vice-President Welfare and political lead for the Live Well Expo.

Remember, your wellbeing is important, so donā€™t miss out on this opportunity to love yourself first this Valentineā€™s Day. The event is completely free and open to all students. Check out the event details here.

If you can't make it, don't go breaking your heart! You can also check out our (very pink) February website to see what else we've got on this month to keep you feeling the love.
