Lancaster University Feminist Society is a small student-led group that meets once a week to discuss important social topics, arrange events and fundraisers, works alongside a number of other societies and charities, and is also a great opportunity for people from all different backgrounds to meet up and simply chat!
The society is open to students of all genders and social backgrounds, and sessions are usually small and intimate, with a strong sense of friendship and trust as members openly discuss their opinions and personal experiences relating to a broad range of topics. Although a great way to meet like-minded people, it’s also a way to discuss important social issues and work together as a team to help raise awareness and funds for a variety of different causes.
Upcoming events that the society are keen to raise awareness of include the national ‘Eating Disorders Awareness Week’ (26th Feb-4th March), where the society have already booked a stall for the Tuesday in Alex square where they will be having a bake sale to raise funds for the charity ‘SEED’, an eating disorder support service that they are working with.
On the 24th February the society will also be collaborating with the Womens+ forum for their annual ‘Reclaim The Night’ event –a march through Lancaster town that promotes the safety of women at night.
